monimoni Privacy Policy

The monimoni operations team ("we," "us," or "our") establishes the following Privacy Policy (this "Policy") regarding the handling of users' personal information in the mobile application "monimoni" (the "Service").
Article 1 (Information We Collect)
We collect the following information in providing the Service.
1.1 Account Authentication Information
- A user identifier obtained through an Apple ID or Google account
- Email address (if provided by the authentication provider)
- Username / display name (if provided by the authentication provider)
1.2 Information You Register
- Nickname
- @ID (a unique alphanumeric ID for the user)
- Profile image
- Bio (self-introduction)
- SNS links (handles for X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube)
- Wake-up time presets and days of the week
- Follow/follower relationships and block settings
1.3 Call-Related Information
- The caller and recipient of a call, start time, end time, call duration, and connection status
- History of completed calls (wake logs, cumulative number of calls, streak days, etc.)
We do not record or store the content of voice calls themselves. Audio data only passes through a third party's (Agora.io) servers in real time in order to connect with the other party.
1.3.1 Voice Message Information
When you use the Service's Voice Message feature, we collect and store the following information.
- Audio data recorded by the user (up to 20 seconds, an audio file in AAC format)
- Sender and recipient identifiers, the associated wake-up schedule (nominationId), send date/time, and delivery date/time
- A "played" flag set by the recipient, a "heart sent" flag, and a "reported" flag
Audio data is stored on Firebase Storage (Google Cloud) and automatically deleted in accordance with the retention period set out in Article 5.
1.4 Device Information
- OS version, device model, language settings, time zone
- FCM push token, APNs device token, VoIP push token, Live Activity push token
- IP address, access date/time (server logs)
1.5 Advertising-Related Information
- If the user grants permission via App Tracking Transparency (ATT), the advertising identifier (IDFA)
- If permission is not granted, the IDFA is not collected, and non-personalized ads are displayed
1.6 Purchase Information
- Purchase receipts obtained through Apple's In-App Purchase (StoreKit transaction ID, product ID, etc.)
- We do not collect credit card numbers or payment details; all are processed by Apple
1.7 Access Permissions
The Service requests permission to access the following device features. Users can revoke permissions at any time from iOS "Settings."
- Microphone: for voice calls and recording Voice Messages
- Notifications: for wake-up and nomination notifications
- Camera / Photo Library: for setting a profile image
- Local Network: to improve call quality (Agora SDK)
- Tracking: for ad personalization (optional)
Article 2 (Purposes of Use)
We use the collected information for the following purposes.
- Providing, operating, and maintaining/improving the functions of the Service
- Authenticating and verifying the identity of the user
- Making and receiving calls and ensuring call quality
- Delivering push notifications
- Investigating and preventing fraudulent or inappropriate use
- Providing information about the Service and responding to inquiries
- Creating and analyzing usage statistics (in a form that does not identify individuals)
- Displaying advertisements and measuring their effectiveness
- Other purposes incidental to the above
Article 3 (Use of External Services)
The Service may use external services such as the following to provide its functions. The handling of information in each service is subject to the privacy policy established by each provider.
- Cloud hosting, data storage, authentication, and push notification delivery
- Real-time transmission of voice calls
- Payment processing for in-app purchases
- Advertising delivery
Some of the providers used may have servers located outside Japan and operate in accordance with the laws of those countries. We use these providers after confirming that they have taken the necessary and appropriate measures to comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other relevant laws.
Specific provider names and details can be provided separately upon inquiry. The providers used may change without notice.
Article 4 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)
Except in the following cases, we will not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining the user's prior consent.
- When based on laws and regulations
- When necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
- When particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound development of children, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
- When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or a party entrusted by them in performing duties prescribed by law
- When personal information is provided in connection with the succession of a business due to a merger or other reason
Article 5 (Retention Period of Personal Information)
- We retain personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the purposes of use.
- When a user deletes their account, information that identifies the individual (nickname, @ID, profile image, bio, SNS links, etc.) is promptly deleted.
- The retention periods for Voice Messages are as follows:
- Voice Messages sent by free users are automatically deleted, including the audio data and related metadata, 3 days after sending.
- Voice Messages sent by users with active Premium Features are retained for as long as the subscription is active.
- If a recipient deletes a Voice Message from their inbox, the audio data is deleted immediately. However, the sender's send history (metadata) remains until the end of the sender's retention period.
- However, where there is a legitimate reason such as the prevention of fraudulent use, maintenance of service quality, or a statutory retention obligation, we may retain some information (anonymized call statistics, records of fraudulent use, etc.) for the necessary period.
Article 6 (User Rights)
Users have the following rights regarding their own personal information that we hold.
- The right to request disclosure of personal information
- The right to request correction, addition, or deletion of personal information
- The right to request suspension of use or erasure of personal information
- The right to request suspension of the provision of personal information to third parties
To exercise these rights, please use the "Delete Account" feature within the app, or contact us at the address at the end of this Policy. We will respond within a reasonable period after verifying your identity.
Article 7 (Use by Persons Under 13)
- The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from persons under 13.
- Persons aged 13 to under 18 must obtain the consent of a parent or guardian before using the Service.
- If it is found that we have collected the personal information of a child under 13, we will promptly delete the relevant information. Parents or guardians with concerns should contact us at the address below.
Article 8 (Handling of Push Notifications)
- The Service delivers, via push notifications (FCM / APNs), nomination notifications, wake-up time notifications, heart-received notifications, streak-related notifications, Voice Message delivery notifications, and the like.
- Each notification can be individually enabled or disabled from "Notification Settings" within the app.
- The Service may use the iOS Live Activities feature to display wake-up time information on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. The displayed content includes the nickname of the person to wake and the countdown time.
- To turn off notifications at the OS level, you can configure this from iOS "Settings" → "monimoni" → "Notifications."
Article 9 (Handling of Advertisements)
- The Service may display advertisements via Google AdMob to users on the free plan.
- For ad delivery, AdMob may collect the IDFA (advertising identifier) and similar information. This requires user permission via ATT (App Tracking Transparency).
- If permission is not granted via ATT, only non-personalized ads will be displayed.
- Users who have purchased Premium Features will not be shown advertisements.
Article 10 (Cookies and Similar Technologies)
The mobile app itself does not use cookies. Related web pages (such as the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy) may use cookies or access analytics tools.
Article 11 (Security)
We take appropriate security measures to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of personal information. However, we do not guarantee perfect security in internet communications.
Article 12 (Changes to the Privacy Policy)
- We may revise this Policy from time to time when we deem it necessary.
- The revised Privacy Policy shall take effect from the time it is posted within the Service.
- In the case of significant changes, we will notify you in advance via in-app notification, email, or similar means.
